START ART FAIR Saatchi Gallery | Solo Gallery | London, SW1

Aigana’s Creation Myth series explores the struggle for life and freedom in the dance of life in which we all take part. It starts with single cells swimming in search of union and completion. Union takes place and the snake is the symbol of the energy that is produced. Archetype patterns of triple spirals condition the evolving entities, cosmic energies dive into physical manifestation overseen by angelic forces. The first animals emerge driven by the pulse of life and the longing for identity. The bull enclosing this dance symbolises the bulls she saw as a child in Georgia representing the rhythm of the continuity of life with presence and meaning, self-sufficiency and balance. Movement is everywhere from the circular swirls of energy to the flicking of the tail of a reptilian being. The palette of sienna, greys and umber reminiscent of the cave paintings at Lascaux are at once physical and spiritual.  You may see ferocity in these images but Aigana sees this as love for life. Life full of light and colours.

START at the Saatchi Gallery is an annual fair bringing together artists from around the globe. Showcasing both international and local galleries, together with international contemporary artists.

“Creation Myth” at the Saatchi Gallery, 2019

The series combines two art projects consisting of 6 paintings depicting the Creation Myth and three Manifestations pieces: the Animal, Shaman and Warrior Coats, which represent nature and spirituality through their respective designs. The paintings represent single cells searching for union and completion, with the snake as the consequence of their union. The first animals are born, striving for life and identity, with the bulls an echo of Aigana’s memory and representing the rhythm of life. The sienna, grey and umber palette is reminiscent of the cave paintings at Lascaux, with both spiritual and physical meanings.
