LEDA. CATHARSIS Grace Belgravia | Solo Exhibition | London SW1

This month-long exhibition at the Grace Belgravia Club showcased Aigana’s Leda: Catharsis series, consisting of 31 canvases divided into 5 blocks. The inspiration for the title of the series comes from the mythological Queen Leda of Sparta, who bore two sets of twins in Greek mythology: Helen and Clytemnestra, and Castor and Pollux, names which set up the foundation for the western world, and in turn, our psyche. Aigana was inspired by the  ancient term Catharsis, coined by Aristotle, describing the moment the audiences’ emotions are finally released in Tragic Theatre.

As well as her artwork, Aigana’s wearable art project- Manifestations- was showcased during the last few days of the exhibition, combining her core skills as an artist with her experimental art project.
